Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Jan 9, 2023.
Marking the occasion, the Prime Minister released a postal stamp, ‘Surakshit Jaayen, Prashikshit Jaayen.’
He inaugurated a digital exhibition on the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Contribution of Diaspora in Indian Freedom Struggle.’
The theme for this year is ‘Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal.’
Mr. Modi praised the host city, Indore, for preserving its heritage even while walking ahead of time.
‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbam’
The multitude of people of Indian origin across the world present a picture of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ the Prime Minister said as he touched upon people-to-people connections.
Lauds India’s progress
Fighter Jets Tejas, Aircraft Carrier Vikrant, and Nuclear Submarine Arihant highlighted India’s electronics manufacturing sector, the PM said.
He said the country is now launching hundreds of satellites at once.
Speaking of Fintech, Mr. Modi said that around 40 percent of the world’s real-time digital transactions now take place in India.
A total of 220 Cr COVID vaccinations being administered in the country highlighted the country’s capacity to ‘make in India,’ PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister reminded the attendees of India’s Presidency of G20 this year and pointed out the opportunities to meet several delegates across 200 venues in different cities.
