Speaking at various public events, including a Janmashtami celebration in Mathura and an unveiling ceremony in Agra, Adityanath delivered a message of national cohesion, warning against the perils of division with the phrase “Batenge to Katenge” (If we divide, we will be cut).

“Nothing is above the nation. If we divide, we will suffer, as seen in Bangladesh,” Adityanath stated, reflecting on the historical and ongoing strife in the neighboring country.

Mr. Adityanath’s speech in Agra, where he unveiled a statue of freedom fighter Durgadas Rathore, comes in the wake of reported violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, where minority communities have faced significant challenges, with reports of attacks on temples and individuals.

Political analysts suggest that the Chief Minister’s remarks are strategically timed, especially with upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP, led by Adityanath, aims to consolidate its voter base.

The opposition reacted, with leaders like Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party criticizing Adityanath for spreading fear rather than fostering peace.

In response to the backlash, BJP leaders have defended Adityanath’s stance, emphasizing the need for vigilance against divisive forces, aligning with one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolutions to remain united against those who attempt to fragment society based on caste, language, or region.
