US Moon Mission troubled with ‘critical loss of propellant’

The US mission to land on the Moon after over half a century has run into trouble owing to technical issues it has emerged.

The Lunar Lander ‘Peregrine’ developed by Astrobotic Technology for NASA is losing propellant owing to a fault in the propulsion system, putting the soft landing program in jeopardy.

Sharing the latest picture of ‘Peregrine,’ the company said the ‘Multi-Layer Insulation’ disturbance is the first visual clue that aligns with their telemetry data pointing to a propulsion system anomaly.

Earlier, a communication blackout was also reported, but the scientists were able to adjust the solar panels to charge the battery and establish a connection.

Astrobotic Technology is currently assessing how to stabilize the lunar lander and how best to utilize the mission in case of a landing failure.
