TRS MPs Nama Nageswara Rao and K.Keshava Rao reiterated Telangana Government’s opposition to the Citizenship amendment act (CAA).
Speaking to the media after attending the all-party meeting in Delhi, they said that the recently enacted law is against the spirit of the constitution as it discriminates people based on their religion. Citing the anti-CAA protests, they urged the central government to reconsider its stance.
Telangana Chief Minister KCR had already said that the Telangana Assembly would pass a resolution against the CAA. He termed the central government’s decision completely wrong.
So far, four other states, Punjab, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Kerala, have passed anti-CAA resolutions in their state legislative assemblies.
