Democrat party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, has surged in recent opinion polls against former President Donald Trump, marking a significant shift in the political landscape.
According to some polls, US Vice-President Harris has closed the gap and surpassed Trump in key battleground states.
The latest polls from Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin show Harris pulling even with Trump, erasing the lead he had been building before Biden’s departure from the race.
The development comes as a concern to Trump’s campaign, which had been scrambling to find a strategy to counter Harris’s momentum.
Initially, Trump’s team had planned to attack Harris on her immigration policies, her record as a “liberal prosecutor,” and her perceived “radical” views. However, these attacks have had little impact so far, and Harris has instead managed to energize the Democratic base.
