Addressing the 45th annual general meeting of Reliance Industries, the company chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the rollout of 5G technology by Jio in October this year.
The 5G services will be offered in cities including Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai by Diwali.
The company will provide coverage across India by December 2023 with a budget of 2 lakh crore, Mr. Ambani said.
Mr. Ambani also said the company is working with Google to provide an affordable smartphone to customers and hinted at a price of less than $100.
Meanwhile, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio, announced the launch of JioAirFiber. The plan requires setting up an antenna at home or office, and the internet speed derived from it will be wireless yet on par with Fiber Broadband.
JioAirFiber would also allow an interactive environment for viewing TV or gaming.
