In the early hours of Sunday, Telangana police foiled YSRTP leader YS Sharmila’s fasting protest at her residence near the Lotus Pond.
The police moved her to the Apollo Hospital for treatment.
Ms. Sharmila had been protesting the government’s refusal to let her continue her ‘Padayatra.’
A little earlier
Earlier in the evening, Sharmila accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of stifling democracy. She questioned how her ‘Padayatra’ was not being allowed despite the High Court’s orders.
She added that she never made any personal allegations during her walk and only spoke of an MLA’s corruption.
She said some of her supporters had been locked up since Friday and vowed to continue her fasting until they are released, and she is allowed to continue her ‘Padayatra.’
