Alluri Sitarama Raju

Alluri Sitarama Raju, born on July 4, 1897, led a rebellion against the British to protect the tribal communities from exploitation. Famously known as the ‘Rampa Rebellion,’ the uprising saw Sitarama Raju waging guerilla warfare against the British forces.

The legendary freedom fighter’s birthplace in Pandrangi, Vizianagaram, will be developed, along with Chintapalli Police Station, which Sitarama Raju had attacked, sparking off the Rampa Rebellion.

The Government also approved the construction of Alluri Dhyana Mandir at Mogallu, where a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju will be built in Dhyana Mudra. His life story will be explained through mural paintings and an interactive system.
