Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his UK counterpart Rishi Sunak in Bali, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
In what was the first-ever meeting between the two leaders, PM Modi congratulated Mr. Sunak on assuming office. Rishi Sunak is the first person of Indian origin to become the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister.
The leaders discussed the current state of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They also touched upon the progress of Roadmap 2030 for future relations.
According to a statement from the MEA, the Prime Ministers appreciated the significance of working together in bilateral and multilateral forums, such as the G20 and the Commonwealth.
The statement added that the discussion touched upon the sectors of collaboration, such as trade, mobility, defense, and security.
