Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the ‘Atal Bridge’ on the Sabarmati river during his two-day Gujarat trip. Mr. Modi shared photographs of the aesthetic bridge, calling it spectacular and an exemplary landmark.
The bridge is 300 meters long and 30 meters wide and is open only to pedestrians and bicyclists.
The bridge, named after the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has two walkways at each end connecting the upper and lower promenades of the Sabarmati riverfront.
The bridge is built using 2600 metric tonnes of steel, and colorful fabric shades the roof.
Prime Minister Modi, visiting Gujarat on the 27th and 28th of August, will address the Khadi Utsav at 5.30 PM today at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. From here, the PM will inaugurate the ‘Atal Bridge.’
On August 28, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Smriti Van Memorial in Bhuj. At around 12 noon, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate developmental projects.
At around 5 PM, Prime Minister will address a program in Gandhinagar to commemorate 40 years of Suzuki in India.
