Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the ‘Mahakal Lok corridor’ at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain and dedicated it to the nation on October 11, 2022.
First, the PM offered prayers in the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Mahakal Lok Corridor
The outward expansion of the Mahakaleshwar temple into the 900-meter-long ‘Mahakal Lok corridor’ is an Rs. 856 Cr Project aimed at providing world-class amenities to visitors and boosting religious tourism.
A blend of Culture and Puranas was seen in the artwork.
While the Mahakal Path contains 108 Pillars showing the Anand Tandav form of Lord Shiva, the mural wall along the path depicts stories related to the Lord, such as the creation of Lord Ganesha, Daksha Yajna, and so forth.

Arrangements have been made to provide the temple and its surroundings with high security.

‘Lord Mahakal is the only Jyotirlinga that faces south, and these are such forms of Shiva, whose Bhasma Aarti is famous all over the world,’ said the Prime Minister.
Speaking of Ujjain, he said the region is not only the center of the nation as per astrological calculations but also the center of India’s soul.
PM Modi said that Lord Krishna himself had come here for education, and later the city witnessed the splendor of King Vikramaditya.
He said every nook and corner transmits ethereal energy in Ujjain, which is engulfed in spirituality.
He said a nation needed to touch its cultural heights and stand proudly with its identity.
Speaking of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal,’ PM Modi called for the people to take pride in our heritage and gain freedom from the mentality of slavery.
The Prime Minister also spoke of the development works at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Vishwanath Dham in Kashi, and Somnath.
