Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has initiated legal action against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha over her controversial remarks regarding the divorce of Nagarjuna’s son, Naga Chaitanya, from actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Minister Konda Surekha had earlier made sensational allegations that Mr. Nagarjuna had shown willingness to trade favors with BRS leader KT Rama Rao via his daughter-in-law, Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She alleged that the actress refused the suggestion, leading to her divorce from Nagarjuna’s son, Naga Chaitanya.

The minister said Nagarjuna wanted to save his N-Convention Center from being demolished.

Ms. Surekha’s remarks were immediately condemned by the veteran actor, who asked her to retract the statements and not to use his family to advance her political intentions.

The minister’s comments were met with immediate condemnation from many from the film fraternity, who showed solidarity with the Akkineni family.

Following the backlash, Konda Surekha apologized to actress Samantha, stating her comments were not intended to hurt sentiments but to question the belittling of women in politics. However, she had issued no apology to actor Nagarjuna.

Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya addressed the issue, expressing his dismay over the exploitation of his personal life for political gains. He emphasized that the decision to divorce was mutual and painful, made after careful consideration by both him and Samantha, based on differing life goals and mutual respect.

KT Rama Rao, directly implicated in Surekha’s claims, also responded by serving a legal notice to Konda Surekha, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the statements against him.
