In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Dr. Oumair Aejaz, a 40-year-old internal medicine physician, has been arrested on multiple felony charges related to the recording of nude images and videos of unsuspecting individuals, including children as young as two years old.

Authorities seized six computers, four cell phones, and 15 external storage devices from Aejaz’s residence, with one hard drive alone containing over 13,000 videos. These videos depicted a range of victims, from toddlers to adults, in various states of undress or in compromising situations.

The arrest, which took place on August 8, 2024, has uncovered one of the most extensive cases of voyeurism and sexual misconduct in recent memory.

Dr. Aejaz, who came to the United States from India in 2011 on a work visa, was apprehended following a tip that led to an investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation revealed that Aejaz allegedly placed hidden cameras in various locations, including hospital rooms, changing areas, bathrooms, and even at a local swim club, capturing images and videos for at least six years.

The charges against Dr. Aejaz include:

  • One count of child sexually abusive activity.
  • Four counts of capturing an image of an unclothed person.
  • Five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard described the case as “one of the most disturbing sexual predator cases” he has encountered, drawing comparisons to the Larry Nassar case due to the breadth of victimization.

“The victimization is so broad and the perversion so great, we’re just beginning to wrap our arms around it,” Bouchard stated, indicating that the investigation might extend beyond Michigan, potentially involving other states or countries due to Aejaz’s professional mobility.

Dr. Aejaz, who had privileges at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township and Henry Ford Macomb in Clinton Township, was not an employee but worked as a contracted physician, moving between different facilities. This mobility has complicated the investigation as authorities work to identify all potential victims.
