Telangana opposition leaders KT Rama Rao (KTR) and T Harish Rao have intensified their criticism against the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

The duo, both former ministers and prominent figures from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), have accused the administration of negligence and inefficiency in managing the disaster, highlighting what they described as a failure to provide adequate relief and rehabilitation measures.

KTR, known for his active engagement on social media, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concerns, stating, “The government’s response to the floods has been lackluster at best. Where is the promised aid? People are suffering, and all we see are delays and excuses.”

Mr. Rama Rao also compared the efforts between the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Harish Rao has been vocal in public forums, accusing the government of not learning from past flood scenarios. “This isn’t just about infrastructure; it’s about a lack of foresight and planning,” he remarked during a press conference, emphasizing the need for better disaster management strategies.

The criticism comes at a time when the state government, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, has been attempting to showcase its disaster response capabilities. However, the opposition sought to present a different picture, focusing on the government’s alleged slow response in deploying rescue operations, the distribution of relief materials, and the lack of restoration of essential services like electricity and clean water supply.

Bhatti Vikramarka, a minister in the current government, countered the BRS leaders’ claims by highlighting the government’s efforts. “Our teams were on the ground from the onset. We’ve managed to prevent loss of life, which is a testament to our preparedness,” he said, defending the government’s actions and attributing the criticism to political opportunism.
