The CBI case on Delhi’s excise policy and the consequent raids on Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s house probing the alleged ‘kickbacks’ has set off a political war of words between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.
While the BJP and even the Congress accused the AAP administration of irregularities in the excise policy, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal retaliated that the BJP was conducting ‘Operation Lotus’ to destabilize his government.
Mr. Kejriwal tweeted that BJP has set aside Rs. 20 Cr per AAP MLA and that his party legislators will not budge.
Mocking the Delhi CM’s allegations, BJP MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir asked if he was also offered the job of the Prime Minister.
Is trouble brewing in AAP?
AAP has a total of 62 MLAs in the 70-strong Legislative Assembly. BJP holds the remaining eight constituencies.
Full attendance was lacking at a meeting held by Delhi CM Kejriwal this morning. Over 50 of the MLAs attended in person, while others are said to have participated via video conference.
Delhi Assembly is being convened tomorrow at 11 AM for a special session.
The excise policy that raked up the controversy is now withdrawn.
