India has administered over 58.14 Cr doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of August 22.
A majority of jabs in these 58.14 Cr are first doses of the vaccine, so while the number looks like nearly half the population is vaccinated, only about 10-14 percent of adults are fully vaccinated.
However, if the vaccination holds pace, the number of those who are fully vaccinated will register a spike in the days to come.
Also, Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine is a single-shot jab, and when it is made available, it too could contribute to a sudden rise in the number of fully vaccinated people.
Uttar Pradesh administered the highest number of first dose vaccines, crossing 5.33 Cr, and over 1 Cr people have received the second dose as well.
Maharashtra administered around 3.9 Cr first doses and over 1.4 Cr second doses.
Gujarat administered 3.22 Cr of the first dose of the vaccine and 1.04 Cr of the second dose.
