India reports 13,451 new cases of the coronavirus

India, on Wednesday, reported 14,021 new cases of the COVID-19. The country has also recorded 14,021 recoveries for the same time period.

India’s active caseload stands at 1,62,661, the lowest in the last 242 days. Kerala accounts for half that number, with 75,058 active cases.

Maharashtra has 26,596 active infections, while Tamil Nadu has 12,540.

The weekly positivity rate is at 1.22 percent, and the daily positivity rate is at 1.03.

Centre writes to West Bengal

The central government has written to the government of West Bengal to try and control the rise of COVID-19 cases in Kolkata. The city had witnessed a 27 percent rise in the positivity rate over the past week.

West Bengal currently has 7849 active cases of the coronavirus.

103.53 Cr doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered

While nearly 56 lakhs of vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, over 22.2 lakh were first doses, and over 33.5 lakh were second.
