Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a rousing speech to the country on the eve of the special Independence Day that is being celebrated at the time of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (Occasion marking the completion of 75 years of Independence).
The speech, which was high on patriotic fervor, also laid out his vision for the country on the international stage.
Starts with Greetings and Gratitude
The Prime Minister started his speech by greeting Indians at home and abroad and acknowledged the latter for making the tri-color flag fly high across the globe.
PM Modi then said that the nation owes a debt of gratitude to the giants of India’s freedom struggle, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Veer Savarkar, Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaqulla Khan, and others. We must fulfill their dreams, he said.
Making a special mention of leaders such as Alluri Sitarama Raju, the Prime Minister said they instilled a deep sense of patriotism even in the remotest regions of the country.
Prime Minister said the current occasion provides an opportunity to take a step forward with a new sense of determination and ability to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of everyone in the nation. The PM said that India must be a fully developed nation in the next 25 years.
Rips through colonialism and any of its lingering effects
India is the mother of democracy, said PM Modi.
PM Modi asked the public to discard any remaining burden from the colonial rule that lingers within.
He said that attempts were made by colonizers to demoralize Indians even during the final stages of the freedom struggle by berating the situation of the country. Yet, the country has survived, endured, and thrived, he said.
Stresses on Gender Equality
Indian women are capable of accomplishing wondrous things, and they will be empowered like never before, the Prime Minister said.
