In Jaipur, on the eve of Makar Sankranthi, flying colorful kites and hearing excited shouts about who managed to cut off whose kite mid-air are synonymous with the rest of the country during the daytime, but the city has its unique celebration at night.

The residents of Jaipur let go of thousands of Sky Lanterns (also referred to as Sky Balloon Lanterns and Paper Lanterns – based on their make) into the night, lighting up the sky. The enthusiasm of the Pink City’s residents left the sky looking like it was the night of Diwali.

Already a World-famous tourist destination for its forts and cultural heritage, Rajasthan’s Capital City presents quite a spectacle on the night of Makar Sankranthi.
