Over Forty Lakh (Four Million) people got vaccinated in India on August 11th, taking the total number of vaccinations administered to 52 Cr.
Of the 40,02,634 vaccinations administered today, 20,58,952 are first doses. Of the remaining doses, around 4.3 lakh vaccinations were given to those between 18-44 years of age.
While the total number of vaccinations given in the country is now at 52 crores, a majority of these people still need their second doses.
With the emergency approval of Johnson and Johsnon’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, India now has five vaccines to offer. Although, Janssen and Moderna vaccines are yet to be imported.
Over 19.79 Cr Vaccinations given to the age group 18-44
Of the 52 crore vaccinations given, 19.79 Cr doses are administered in the age group 18-44.
A press release from the Health Ministry said –
“Cumulatively, 18,45,43,154 persons in the age group 18-44 years across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and total 1,34,04,637 have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.”
Uttar Pradesh has administered the highest number of first dose vaccinations so far at 2.37 Cr, followed by Madhya Pradesh with 1.74 Cr, followed by Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
