Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique was assassinated near his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office on October 12, 2024.
The 66-year-old politician had just returned from his evening prayers when he was shot dead. The doctors at Lilavati Hospital, who confirmed his death shortly before midnight, said he was brought in with no pulse.
Mumbai police arrested two suspects, Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, in connection with the murder. A special team has reportedly left for Madhya Pradesh to find other suspects, one of whom is identified as Shiv Gautam.
According to sources, an alleged involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang is being probed after a social media post by one of the gang members claimed credit for the murder.
Baba Siddique
Former Minister Baba Siddique is currently a member of Ajit Pawar-led NCP. He is well known for his friendship with several Bollywood celebrities, evidenced by their attendance at his parties.
Mr. Siddique’s son, Zeeshan, is currently an MLA from Vandra East.
Actors, including Salman Khan, have visited Mr. Siddique’s house to offer condolences.
