FIFA World Cup 2022 – Morocco makes history

Morocco beat Portugal 1-0, becoming the first African team to make it to the semifinals at the World Cup.

It will play either England or France on Dec 14.

The Match

Morocco stuck to its attacking style, putting Portuguese defenders on full alert from the beginning of the game.

For the first 30 minutes into the match, despite Portugal having over 70 percent possession of the ball, both teams attempted three shots each at the rival’s goalpost.

By 41 minutes, Portugal attempted only four shots as opposed to Morocco’s five.

And there’s the first goal of this quarterfinal in the 42nd minute!

Morocco’s forward, Youssef En-Nesyri, scored a goal via a brilliant header giving Morocco a 1-0 lead.

The lead carried through to the end, and Morocco made history at the Al-Thumama stadium in Qatar.
