The Enforcement Directorate named TRS leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha as one of the key people in the ‘South Group’ that allegedly paid around Rs. 100 Cr to the accused AAP leaders for liquor licenses.
Ms. Kavitha is the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
The national agency tasked with fighting economic crimes made the accusation in the remand report of Amit Arora, the Director of Buddy Retail, who was arrested on Wednesday.
How is Kavitha involved?
According to the ED, the ‘South Group’ comprising K. Kavitha, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy (YSRCP MP), and P. Sarath Chandra Reddy (Director of Aurobindo Pharma) paid around Rs. 100 Cr to Vijay Nair, Communications in charge of AAP for liquor licenses.
The ED alleged that Kavitha changed her mobile phone devices ten times in the span of one year and that Amit Arora called her on multiple occasions.
The 36 people mentioned in the report, including Gorantla Buchi Babu, Boyinpalli Abhishek, and Srujan Reddy, used 170 phones in one year, and only 17 of them were recovered, said the ED. It added that the data was found deleted in those recovered devices.
Ms. Kavitha denied involvement in the scam and called the developments ‘political.’
