Telangana registered 16 new cases on Saturday, April 11th, taking the positive COVID-19 cases to 503. The total number of deaths rose to 14, but data is unclear as to how many people from which districts succumbed to the virus. It is noteworthy that the number of new cases registered today is the same as yesterday.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao announced the extension of lockdown in Telangana until April 30th and sought public cooperation in its successful implementation. He further outlined the steps taken to ensure that agriculture and food processing units do not suffer. The CM then spoke of his interaction with the Prime Minister earlier and mentioned that he sought relaxation to FRBM rules.
Speaking of the COVID-19 situation in the state, the CM said that 1654 people are currently under ‘Quarantine watch.’ He spoke of ‘containment areas’ and put the number of such areas at 243 (123 in GHMC, 120 elsewhere) and added that the ‘containment’ would be implemented vigorously. The CM stated that most of those who are currently positive with the virus are in stable condition and expressed hope that the lockdown could be done away with after April 30th.
So far, Hyderabad had registered the highest number of cases in the state. The specific data about each district was not updated for the day. As per the latest numbers, 96 people are classified as either cured or discharged, and 393 positive coronavirus cases are still active.
