One of the most versatile and popular musicians of the Indian Film Industry, Bappi Lahiri, passed away at 11.45 PM on February 15, 2022, at CritiCare Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. He had already spent the past month in the hospital and was discharged just two days ago. However, a lung infection brought him back to the hospital again, and ‘Obstructive Sleep Apnea’ is reported to be the cause of his death.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and praised the late musician for his encompassing music, saying that his works were relatable to people across generations.
Composer of Superhit Songs
Bappi Lahiri composed music for several superhit films, and the success of those films had a good deal to do with the foot-tapping songs.
In Hindi, Mr. Lahiri scored music for films such as ‘Disco Dancer,’ ‘Dance Dance,’ ‘Sharaaabi,’ ‘Namak Halaal,’ ‘Masterji,’ and ‘Wardat.’ The hit track ‘Yaad Aa Raha Hai’ from ‘Disco Dancer’ was sung by him.
In Telugu, the musical genius provided both memorable melodies and fast beats. He worked on movies such as ‘Simhasanam,’ ‘Thene Manasulu,’ ‘State Rowdy,’ ‘Gang Leader,’ ‘Rowdy Inspector,’ ‘Nippu Ravva,’ and ‘Brahma.’
