On Thursday, all 24 ministers in the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet had submitted their resignations to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan. The surprise move that followed a 3-hour cabinet meeting comes ahead of a major reshuffle.
The resignation letters were reportedly sent to Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan on the same evening. The Governor is likely to receive the list of new ministers by April 10.
CM Jagan had asked all the ex-ministers to make themselves available on April 11.
What next for those who resigned?
A majority of those who resigned are likely to be accommodated as the presidents of district development councils.
The resigning Ministers would also be tasked with strengthening the party ahead of the 2024 general election.
In 2019, YSRCP won 151 out of 175 assembly constituencies and 22 out of 25 parliament seats.
