Andhra Pradesh police seized two tons of red sanders from smugglers on October 1, 2022. Eight men were placed under arrest.

Chittoor Rural East CI Maddaiyachari and his team recovered 122 logs of red sandalwood while conducting a vehicle search operation.

The seized logs are reportedly worth around Rs. 1.2 Cr.
A police statement credited district SP Rishanth Reddy and DSP Sudhakar Reddy for supervising the operation.
Police also seized an Eicher lorry, two cars, and a motorcycle worth Rs. 30 Lakh from the arrested eight persons.
Besides having rich red sandalwood resources, Chittoor is a border district close to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and interstate smugglers often attempt to transit through the region.
