After the chaos at the Kabul Airport, the US has rushed more troops to Afghanistan, and while the situation has improved a little at the Airport, it is still far from the desired calm, with scores of people wanting to leave Afghanistan and trying to get to the airport.
The Pentagon now has over 5200 troops in Afghanistan and has flown F-18 fighter jets overhead to enhance the security, the Pentagon has said.
The Department of Defense tweeted updates from the Kabul Airport, which showed the US troops being sympathetic to the plight of those who seek a special immigrant visa.

The US and the Taliban have a peace deal from February 2020. But the US had since accused the Taliban of breaking the agreement by maintaining relations with terror groups and perpetrating violence. However, it did not back down from its proposed date of withdrawal either.
After the US withdrawal of troops and taking Afghanistan with very little resistance, the Taliban have held a press conference and offered amnesty to all. But the question is whether those who are offered the amnesty found the statement credible.
Arranging safe routes within Afghanistan is outside the scope of what the US troops are tasked with, said the Pentagon spokesperson, when asked if any security could be provided to those who are trying to leave the country.
The US, which announced the withdrawal of its troops well in advance, did not seem to anticipate the rapid pace at which the Taliban took province after province, all the way to Kabul.
The rapid fall of Afghan armed forces seems to have irked even the US President Joe Biden, who did not mince words at his recent press conference when he declared that the US troops cannot continue to fight a war for the Afghans when the Afghan Army itself had given up with very little resistance.
