BJP sweeps Tripura Civic Polls; CPM, TMC, and TIPRA don’t make it to double digits

BJP recorded a resounding victory in the Tripura Civic Polls that were held on November 25. The Lotus party won 217 out of 222 seats.

CPM won three seats, while the Trinamool Congress and Tipra Motha won one seat each.

BJP won 51 out of 51 wards in the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

A total of 334 seats in the municipal bodies were up for election, and BJP had already won 112 of them unopposed. So, the party has won 329 out of 334 seats.

Prime Minister Modi attributed the victory to good governance and congratulated Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress lauded its party workers for good performance despite being a new entrant in the fray.

The BJP and Trinamool Congress will clash again in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections, to be held on December 19, 2021.
