India has given over 80 Crore (800 million) jabs of the coronavirus vaccine to its eligible population so far, as per the morning update on September 19, 2021.
Of the 85 lakh (8.5 million) vaccine doses given in the last 24 hours, 46.21 Lakh are first doses, and 39.21 lakh are second dose vaccines.
The narrowing gap between first and second-dose vaccine takers means that the number of those fully vaccinated will see a spike soon.
Currently, the percentage of fully vaccinated people in India hovers around 20, mainly owing to the 84-day minimum wait period between the first and second doses of the viral vector vaccines.
The most populous state Uttar Pradesh has made use of the most vaccines, at 9.41 Cr, followed by Maharashtra at 7.3 Cr doses.
