Trump appoints Sriram Krishnan as Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence

US President-elect Donald Trump has named Sriram Krishnan the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence within the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. 

Who is Sriram Krishnan?

Born in Chennai, India, Mr. Sriram Krishnan completed his undergraduate studies in Information Technology at Anna University. 

His early career took him to Microsoft, where he was a founding member of the Windows Azure team, working on APIs and services that would later become pivotal in cloud computing. This foundational experience at Microsoft laid the groundwork for his future endeavors in technology.

After his stint at Microsoft, Mr. Krishnan led product teams at several tech behemoths. After a tenure at Facebook, he later contributed significantly at Twitter, where he was involved during Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform, now known as X. 

In 2021, Mr. Krishnan joined Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) as a general partner, a role that positioned him at the forefront of investment in tech startups and emerging technologies. His work at a16z, especially leading its London office, highlighted his global perspective on technology investment and policy.

Mr. Krishnan rose to prominence with his corporate roles and ventures outside traditional employment.

He co-hosts ‘The Aarthi and Sriram Show’ with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy. The show became a platform for discussing technology trends with high-profile guests like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. This podcast has significantly amplified his influence in the tech community.

Sriram Krishnan’s appointment by President-elect Donald Trump was announced amid a broader initiative to harness AI for national leadership in technology. 

Mr. Krishnan will work closely with David O. Sacks, the newly appointed White House AI and Crypto Czar, to ensure continued American leadership in AI. His role involves shaping and coordinating AI policy across government sectors, including collaboration with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
