India continues to win at Paris Paralympics – Here’s the latest tally

India’s para-athletes have been making waves at the Paris Paralympics 2024, showcasing remarkable talent and determination, leading to a significant boost in India’s medal tally. 

India has clinched 15 medals so far, marking a historic moment in the country’s Paralympic history.

Who won what medal in which division?

  • Sumit Antil defended his title in the Men’s Javelin Throw F64, securing his second consecutive gold medal with a throw of 70.59 meters, setting a new benchmark for Indian athletics.
  • Nitesh Kumar brought home gold in the Men’s Singles SL3 Badminton, adding to India’s golden tally.
  • Avani Lekhara not only won gold in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 but also became the first Indian to win two gold medals in a single Paralympics, defending her title from Tokyo.
  • Preethi Pal made history by becoming the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win two medals in a single Paralympics, securing bronzes in both the Women’s 100m T35 and 200m T35 events.
  • Yogesh Kathuniya clinched a silver in the Men’s Discus Throw F56, showcasing his prowess in the field.
  • Nishad Kumar added to the silver collection with his performance in the Men’s High Jump T47.
  • Manish Narwal won in shooting and secured silver in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1, demonstrating India’s strength in shooting sports.
  • Thulasimathi Murugesan and Suhas Yathiraj won in badminton, along with Rubina Francis in shooting, contributed with silvers in their respective events.
  • Nithya Sre Sivan won the bronze medal in Women’s Singles Badminton SH6 event
  • Manisha Ramadass and the archery duo of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi rounded off the bronze tally, highlighting India’s diversity in sporting excellence.

India’s performance has propelled the nation to the 15th position in the medal tally, a testament to the country’s growing prowess in para-sports.
