Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has rebutted the YSRCP leaders’ claims that his ‘Red Book’ is being used to pursue political vendetta.
The ‘Red Book’ is to prosecute wrongdoers
Speaking to the media, Nara Lokesh said that he had mentioned in several public meetings leading up to the 2024 General Elections that he was jotting down the names of wrongdoers, both politicians and officials, in a ‘Red Book’ and that those people would eventually face justice.
Mr. Lokesh said that the public had given the mandate to do so by electing the NDA with a massive majority.
Addressing another question, Mr. Lokesh said former Minister Jogi Ramesh’s son was involved in a land scam and wondered if he should be allowed to avoid justice.
YSRCP decries the ‘Red Book’
The YSRCP leaders have been claiming that the existence of a ‘Red Book’ is intended to persecute political opponents.
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan recently held a protest in New Delhi against what he called a political vendetta based on the ‘Red Book.’
In December 2023, under the YSRCP-led government, the Crime Investigation Department served the TDP leader with a notice that he was intimidating the officials. Mr. Lokesh responded that when elected to power, the TDP government would only order a judicial inquiry against those who abused power.
