The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, an incident that has shocked the nation, has intensified its probe.
The CBI has started questioning individuals linked to the case, including three batchmates of the victim who were on duty during the night of the crime.
The agency’s focus has also extended to the former principal of the hospital, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, who has been detained for questioning on multiple occasions, indicating a deep dive into the administrative oversight and potential negligence that might have contributed to the incident.
Reports suggest that the CBI plans to conduct a psychological assessment of the accused, aiming to understand the motives behind such a heinous crime.
Evidence tampering allegations
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has raised concerns over the sudden renovations at the crime scene, suggesting possible tampering with evidence. This has led to increased scrutiny over how the crime scene was managed post-incident.
