Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra was left impressed after a viral video showed a Bolero driver escaping a charging elephant in reverse gear. The incident reportedly took place in Kabini Reserve.
In the video shared by Mr. Mahindra, the driver stays his course in reverse while eluding the elephant and does not seem to panic. The maker of the Bolero commended the driver for his calm and named him the best driver of the vehicle.
The Kabini Reserve
Originating in Kerala, the Kabini river flows east to join the Kaveri river in Karnataka. The resulting Kabini reservoir near the town of Sargur helps the wildlife flourish in the area.
The Kabini reserve has been a famed destination for wildlife safari.
Elephant attacks
Elephants are generally gentle, and attacks are rare. And when they do happen, it is not necessarily in a forest.
Hundreds of people die from elephant attacks in India every year when the largest land animals raid crops for food.
